What Is Backpacking Travel? The Word Means Two Different Things
One word, two activities that share almost nothing but a bag. Which one you mean changes the gear, the cost, the risk and the skills, so it is worth settling first.

Two things are true about full face snorkel masks, and a buying guide that mentions only the first is not worth your time.
They are genuinely more comfortable. You breathe through your nose and mouth normally, there is no mouthpiece to bite, and the field of view is wider. For people who cannot tolerate a mouthpiece, this design is the difference between snorkelling and not.

You have a beard or heavy stubble, which prevents a chin seal. You intend to duck-dive, which this design is not built for. You have a known cardiovascular or respiratory condition. Or you are not a confident swimmer. In each of those cases a conventional mask and snorkel is both safer and more capable.
The design feature that matters most. Fresh air should be routed down across the lens, keeping it clear of fog, and exhaled air routed out through a separate channel so it is not rebreathed.
Cheap unbranded masks frequently implement this poorly or not at all, which is where carbon dioxide accumulation comes from. This is not a marketing feature; it is the mechanism.
Look for CE marking and a stated EN standard, from a company with a name, an address and a model number. The masks that perform worst in independent testing share a profile: no standard cited, no manufacturer identified, a generic name, and a listing full of superlatives.
Sized by the distance from the bridge of your nose to the bottom of your chin. Manufacturers publish a chart; measure rather than guess. A mask that is too large will not seal at the chin and will leak continuously.
Prevents water entering the tube when a wave washes over it. Standard on decent masks, absent on the cheapest.
Some masks use a strap system you can release with one hand. This is worth paying for given that removal speed is one of the central concerns.
These are selected on airflow design, published standards and sizing quality. Confirm the current specification and standards statement on the listing, since manufacturers revise these frequently.
The best-known full face mask from a company that names its standards and publishes its airflow design. Separated airflow, dry-top valve, and a size chart based on face measurement. It is the one to compare others against.
An Italian diving equipment manufacturer rather than a snorkel-mask brand, which shows in the documentation. The Aria range publishes its CE and EN compliance clearly and offers multiple sizes and versions.
A widely sold mid-priced option with separated airflow and a dry-top valve, in two sizes. Reasonable for occasional holiday use, and the sizing is the thing to get right.
Children need a mask actually built at child scale, because an adult mask on a small face will not seal and the air volume is proportionally larger. Buy a youth size or do not buy this design at all.
Worth stating as a genuine option rather than a footnote. A tempered-glass mask with a wide-bore dry snorkel costs less, lets you duck-dive, clears with one exhalation, and can be dropped from your mouth in a second.
