What Smart Travel Info collects, what it does not, which third parties are involved and how to reach us about your data.

This policy describes how smarttravelinfo.com handles personal data. It was rewritten on 10 August 2026 when the site moved to static hosting, and it describes the site as it actually works now rather than the features a content management system might have.

Who we are

Smart Travel Info publishes travel and outdoor-gear guides at https://smarttravelinfo.com. To reach us about anything on this page, use the contact page.

What the site itself collects

Nothing directly. Smart Travel Info is a set of static pages. There is no account system, no login, no comment form and no database. The site does not ask you for your name, your email address or any other personal detail in order to read it.

Two consequences follow from that. There is no stored profile of you for us to disclose or delete, and there is no user-generated content on the site for anyone to attach to you.

What your browser sends anyway

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard web-server request data: IP address, the page requested, timestamp, referring page and browser user-agent string. This is generated automatically by the act of requesting a page and is used for security and to keep the site running. Retention is set by the hosting provider.

Local storage. The light and dark theme switch saves your choice in your browser under the key sti-theme. That value never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Search. The search page loads an index file and runs entirely in your browser. Your search terms are not transmitted to us and are not logged anywhere.

Analytics

If website analytics are running on this site, they are used to count page views and understand which guides people find useful. Analytics providers set their own identifiers and are governed by their own privacy policies. You can block them with browser settings, a content blocker, or your device's tracking-prevention feature, and the site will work normally.

Some guides in the Travel Advisor section contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon through the Amazon Associates programme. When you follow one, the destination site may set cookies to attribute a resulting purchase, and that transaction is subject to the destination site's privacy policy rather than this one. We receive commission reports in aggregate and do not receive your identity, your payment details or the contents of your basket.

Third-party content

Guides link out to agency sites, manufacturer pages, mapping services and news reports. Following any of those links takes you to a site that operates under its own policy. Where a page embeds a map or a video, that provider can see the request and set its own cookies exactly as if you had visited it directly.

Images

Photographs on this site are either our own or licensed for reuse, mostly from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons terms or as public-domain works from U.S. federal agencies. Each carries its attribution in the caption. We strip location metadata from images we publish ourselves.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EU, or a jurisdiction with comparable law, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection over personal data held about you. Because the site holds no user accounts and no submitted personal data, in practice this concerns hosting logs and any analytics identifiers. Write to us through the contact page and we will tell you what exists and act on your request.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

Material changes to this policy are made on this page with the date at the top updated. There is no mailing list to notify, because there is no mailing list.
